Tinspire Users can Graph Piecewise Defined Function easily, see below’s example:
All we need to do is start the Precalculus Made Easy APP (download: https://www.tinspireapps.com/?a=PME) press
Select Option F: Graph Piecewise Defined Function the MENU:
Next, enter the 2 pieces and the Start/Endpoint xo as shown below:
As soon as the function is entered, the Graph shows in the next tab as shown below:
You can easily see if the piecewise function is continuous (and differentiable if you zoom in) , this one has a “Jump Discontinuity”.
This is a great tool both for PreCalculus and Calculus students.
Lastly, the app allows to evaluate a piecewise defined function as well. You must additionally enter the x-value , called c, where the Function should be evaluated.
Works like a charm and you will always get it right!
